Chernobyl 3D Scanned for New Game Chernobylite!

Here’s your chance to fund an amazing game based on 3D scanning of Chernobyl on Kickstarter, but you only have a day or so left to do it! Here’s the description:

Chernobylite is a science-fiction, survival horror single-player experience, mixing free exploration of its disturbing world with challenging combat, unique crafting, and non-linear storytelling. As a player, you’ll have to survive and reveal the twisted secrets of Chernobyl in the 3D-scanned recreation of the real Exclusion Zone.

I’ve been drawn to learning more about this place like a moth to a flame for years, so this caught my attention. With things like the new HBO miniseries on Chernobyl, it is really back in the public conscious.

This is an amazing new game being developed out of Poland and based upon real 3D scans from some of the iconic locations around Chernobyl. The game is very reasonably priced and dome of the higher end rewards even offer a trip to Chernobyl! (which sounds amazing, but probably not in the cards for me right now) They already have a playable demo, so the “vaporware” concerns are minimal too. I hope to somehow get my hands on a demo of the game soon and report on it here.

Work like this is awesome and I’m thrilled to see this marriage of art, technology and history.
