Solar Power 3D Printing Like an Egyptian

I’m a huge fan of the show, Outrageous Acts of Science, and not just because there’s a guy who is a doppelganger for Aaron Rodgers.  I recentley saw an episode featuring Markus Kayser and his amazing Solar Sinter.  This amazing merger of art and engineering uses a Fresnel lens to concentrate the power of the sun to melt sand.  By moving his table and adding new layers of sand Markus can create amazing 3D objects.  Looks like MacGyver, Gilligan, the crew from Lost or even ancient Egyptians could have made their own solar 3D printer with a little knowledge of lenses!
