If you haven’t heard about KickStarter.com yet, you probably will soon. Kickstarter is a “crowd sourcing” website that lets individuals fund projects from films to albums to electronic devices in exchange for rewards graduating based upon the level of funding. Kickstarter has funded 6 films nominated for Oscars (including one winner) and many electronic devices. I personally have been part of a film and an album. I’m currently funding another great film and for $75 you too can achieve your dream of being listed on IMDB.com.
3D printing and scanning have also taken advantage of Kickstarter. Here are a couple of current opportunities on the site:
3Doodler 3D Pen (think hot glue gun meets cake decorator)
And one on a competitor Indiegogo:
Checkout the site and have fun looking at all the opportunities 3D or otherwise.
Another great 3D Kickstarter project, this one with 3D scanning http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/45699157/fuel3d-a-handheld-3d-scanner-for-less-than-1000
