Beginning of a 3D Journey

The world’s first additive manufacturing, bricks and stones.

Welcome to Printing DDD.  Printing DDD is a site related to the rapid growing industry of 3D printing and additive manufacturing.  Printing DDD is a combined effort of Mr. Thomas McGurk and Dr. Douglas Mancosky.

Mr. McGurk is a practicing attorney with expertise in intellectual property law (destined to be a huge topic in 3D printing) and an engineer.  Dr. Mancosky has a Ph.D. from Georgia Tech in engineering and years of experience deploying equipment in many industries.  Together we bring years of experience to provide commentary and insight on 3D printing from our unique perspectives.

A technology that was once hundreds of thousands of dollars, car sized, low quality and limited to big business and universities is now available for desktop home use for about the price of an LCD TV.  We stand at a tipping point where we will soon be able to download and print almost anything in our own homes.  This opens the door for whole new industries and mass customization, but also for patent, ethical and safety concerns.  Manufacturing is beginning a journey not unlike the settling of the Wild West.  Currently in this new technical territory there are few laws, huge areas ready to be claimed, gold to be had and no doubt some legal shootouts on the horizon.

Welcome to the Printing DDD, we hope to be your guides for the manufacturing revolution that is 3D printing.
