New Amazon Fire Phone a Perfect Fit for 3D Printing?
The new Amazon Fire Phone and the video above demonstrating the “dynamic perspective” immediately had me thinking of 3D printing applications. The way you could design, modify and check models could be revolutionary. The 4 face tracking cameras could easily also be reapplied for fast 3D scanning. Continue reading

Chemistry printer?
I love Beaker. My background is chemistry, so I was excited to hear about the 3D printing of chemical reaction labware and the material to handle it. As a scientist I’ve know a few times the frustration of not having the perfect piece of equipment to do the job. Continue reading
Wood you like to 3D print a tree?
With my background in pulp and paper I was thrilled to see some new filaments made from wood! MCor has been around for a while with paper 3D printing, but we’re now talking real wood with texture, rings and the general look and feel you’d expect. Continue reading
Help Vote on the Local Motors 3D printed Car Design

Each destination is a place (microfactory) where innovators create amazing products and consumers come to marvel and shop.” Local motors creates a space and a bullpen of engineers that entrepreneurs can collaborate with, both physically and virtually, to create amazing motored inventions. Think of it as an incubator of sorts, but highly focused to the automotive space. Continue reading
Foodini is 3D Printing Food Magic
I grew-up near Appleton, Wisconsin, Harry Houdini’s childhood home and home of a great museum. Houdini was known for his showmanship and your kitchen will be known for showmanship too if you get a Foodini 3D food printer by Natural Machines. Continue reading
3D Printing is Green Releasing Less CO2

Cape Tribulation in Australia where rain forest meets Great Barrier Reef is one of the “greenest” places on Earth.
We’ve talked before about some of the environmental benefits of 3D printing, but now there’s a study to put more quantitative numbers to the assumed qualitative environmental benefits. Without getting into the global warming politics, green manufacturing can be good business and in airplanes minimalist manufacturing can save weight and thus fuel and real dollars. Continue reading
